Department of Agronomy

The operation of the Department of Agronomy extends to four Campuses, which are also located in different agroecological regions of Hungary, ensuring wide territorial coverage:

  • Szent István Campus, Gödöllő
  • Károly Róbert Campus, Gyöngyös
  • Georgikon Campus, Keszthely
  • Kaposvár Campus.

The task of the department's groups operating on different Campuses is to take on a role in the research, development and consultancy tasks related to crop production in the given region, in addition to the uniform educational tasks. The educational activity covers a broad subject structure related to plant cultivation in a practice-oriented approach, from basic agricultural knowledge to tillage and land use, through classical plant cultivation to precision plant cultivation at all training levels, both in Hungarian and English. In addition to field agrotechnical research, plant protection-related research as well as plant breeding and variety maintenance tasks complement the department's wide range of professional tasks, in cooperation with other organizational units operating inside and outside the institute.
